How to know when to call a plumber

Plumber

Chances are that if you are questioning how to know when you should call a plumber, you already need a plumber. Even those of us who are a little handy around the house should know that there is a time when a professional touch is needed. At Sydney Blocked Drains, we are available for plumbing emergencies at all hours of the day or night – twenty four hours a day, in fact. We have a zero dollar call out fee, so you only pay for the parts and repairs you need. If that has not convinced you in your late night wonderings if you need a plumber for that persistent issue, read on to find out about the sure signs that you require a plumber.

Often the first sign that you need a plumber for a blocked drain is that drainage in your household sinks is slow. This could be your bathroom, laundry, and kitchen sink, as well as the shower or bath. It may be all drains or just some of them, depending on the location of the blockage. Generally by the time a blockage gets to this point, it is not going to resolve itself no matter how much time you give it. In fact, it is likely to only get worse with time as the blockage becomes larger. However a simple blockage is no issue for a plumber to fix. At Sydney Blocked Drains, we have a CCTV drain camera which we can use to see the blockage if need be.

Similarly, low water pressure in your taps is a sure sign that you need to a call in a plumber. Just like with slow drainage, this is an indicator that there is a blockage in the water lines. Any sort of obstruction can reduce the amount of water trickling through the taps. Again, this is not the sort of problem which will go away on its own without intervention. You need the expert touch a plumber to diagnose and rectify the issue so everything works normally once more. If you turn on the taps and no water comes out at all, this is often indicative of a more severe problem. Unless the water supply has been switched off at the mains, this is a sign of a serious leak which must be addressed straightaway.

A persistent leak is another signal, from your house to you, that you need to call in a plumber. This is a less urgent situation and can certainly be left to business hours to be dealt with, but you do want to get onto it when you can due to the water being wasted, which will of course impact upon your water bill. A leaky toilet or sink is sometimes easy to fix – you may even be able to do it yourself in some simple cases. Otherwise it is time to make the call to bring in a plumber to fix it. The longer you leave it, the more it will add up on your water bill.
Of course, you can always call us at Sydney Blocked Drains, describe the situation, and we will advise if it is best to send someone out to look at the issue. We can be contacted by phone on 1300 403 201, or you can reach us through our website.
